Hear Debra's song "Naked And Waiting For You" online today on our Hot AC Show (1 PM EST, 10 AM PST) at www.womenofsubstanceradio.com. Although Debra had always felt the pull of a career in songwriting, she became an established television producer in LA. She finally took the leap and left her job at The Dr. Phil Show after receiving accolades from songwriting teacher and Barry Manilow's longtime lyricist, Marty Panzer, and then from Barry himself. Since then, she has won numerous songwriting awards from prestigous contests including Songdoor, Unisong, Great American Song, Song Universe, and most recently has won the GRAND PRIZE in the Country category in the John Lennon Song Contest. When she was young, many of her friends and family thought she'd become a lawyer because she had so much to say. Debra says, "One of the reasons I became a songwriter, and not a lawyer, is that law is about 'right and wrong,’ ‘black and white.’ Songwriting is about all the shades in between. I like shades.”
