Today's Video Share: Black Sheep by Chloe Jean

Posted on December 3, 2014 at 9:10 AM Comments comments (2284)

"Black Sheep" is so inspirational - not in a cheezy cliche way - but truly inspirational. It makes a bold statement both in it's lyrics and it's video concept. The line "Be proud to be a black sheep" turns conventional wisdom on it's ear and transforms it into a mantra about individuality and living up to your potential. Chloe Jean is an uber talented, dynamic performer. Here's what some fans say about her and the video:

"This song is Epic!"

"Imagine how it felt when people first heard the likes of Chaka Khan? Streisand? Aretha? Diana? This is our generation's version of the electrifying new talent. Watch and listen! Seriously."

Today's Video Share: Speed of Sound by Alzara & Brother Spellbinder

Posted on December 2, 2014 at 6:40 PM Comments comments (3)

The video for "Speed of Sound" is one of the best examples I've seen of the marriage of curated footage and original song. The footage is artfully and masterfully synchronized with the musical motifs and clever lyrics. Alzara & Brother Spellbinder have a Bohemian Folk sound that's both unique and familiar. Here are my two favorite stand-out moments in their lyrics:

"Every lover leaves a gaping hole." and "There's a human underneath each shell."

This video was recently selected for annual curated performing artist showcase in tribute to Day of the Dead at SOMarts gallery.

In honor of the debut of our Holiday shows, here's a rockin' good time Holiday video by Whitney Wolanin. This version of Run, Run Rudolph was released in 2013 and is available from iTunes on the mini Christmas album of the same name. This is a fun and quirky video and the guitarist playing the solos is amazing. Whitney's vocals sound as vibrant as ever. Whitney's newest Holiday cover, Silver Bells, is featured on our Podcast today as well. Listen to the Podcast: http://bit.ly/Dec012014Show

If you've ever loved somone and had to let them go, you will identify with the depth of emotion in this haunting song. "Hard Love" by Brocka delivers on every level. The lyrics portray a profound longing that may stir up feelings you have buried or don't want to admit to. Today's Video Share: Street Art by Dana McKeon

Posted on November 17, 2014 at 9:20 AM Comments comments (0)

This is probably my favorite song we are debuting this month on WOSRadio and it's debuting this week on the "What's on my iPod" New Music Show (5 PM ET, 2 PM PT). It is fresh, creative and catchy while sharing a deep message that is so universal yet from a non-cliched perspctive. "Street Art" is the debut single from Dana's 2014 EP of the same name. The video features Malta's first ever Reverse Graffiti project by the world-renowned Moose Curtis. Cueing off of the massive positive feeback from Dana's fans, I know our audience will enjoy this video.

Today's Video Share: Gravity by Victoria Benesch

Wow - this woman can sing! Victoria Benesch portrays such deep emotion through her bluesy yet delicate voice. One minute her soaring vocals will make you smile, the next minute you'll almost hear the tears in her voice as she pulls your heart strings. "Gravity" is an amazingly soul-wrenching song and this video captures the scene and mood in the studio as Victoria laid down these exposed, gutsy vocals. "Gravity" debuts this week on WOSRadio.

"Heartbreakin' Woman" is a straight up, rock 'n roll good time. Evol Walks is a talented rock band with a compelling lead vocalist, and this concert-style video shows off their performing prowess. Today's Video Share: Across The Universe by Sarah Pigion

Posted on November 5, 2014 at 9:20 AM Comments comments (3)

For the past 10 days we have been featuring unique covers of songs from the 50s & 60s on our "We've Got It Covered" series. One of my favorites has to be Sarah Pigion's version of "Across the Universe."  I know this may be blasphemy to some, but I never cared for the Beatles version - too psychedelic for this Beatles fan. But this sweet arrangement has won me over. Sarah's vocals are delicate yet strong and the instrumentals skillfully maintain the momentum so it never gets boring.  Check out this video recorded live in the "studio" from "The Living Room Sessions."

Light The Fire by Solveig & Stevie is now in heavy rotation on WOSRadio, and it's accompanying video was just released last week. They've created some cool effects by filming using a Phantom Quadcopter Drone. You can definitely "feel the heat" coming off of this hypnotic track and engaging video.
